The theme of Police week 2012 is "Leading the way to a safer tomorrow." and is dedicated to increasing community awareness and recognition of policing services and strengthening partnerships between police and the community. May 17 -The Smiths Falls Police Service is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a book launch. "Our Police: A history of the Smiths Falls Police Service" by Sgt. Richard Labelle on Thurs., May 17th. Sgt. Labelle will be attending the event, which will be held between 1 and 3 p.m. at the Heritage House Museum on Old Sly's Road. The museum is also marking the occasion with an exhibit on the history of the police force.
