Aug 7- Waste Management presents Thursday Night Concerts in the Park with local musicians from our region in the beautiful Fitzroy Provincial Park and Stittsville Village Square Park. Concerts will conclude on August 14. Donations will be accepted on behalf of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

Aug 7-Osgoode Township Historical Society & Museum: "History of Osgoode Township". This exhibit will feature displays on the native peoples and the early pioneers that settled in Osgoode Township. Aug 7-8-The Stage By Stage Performing Arts Company. is both student owned and operated by youth from the Smiths Falls area. The group of talented young actors will be traveling all around Ontario performing "Nights At The Round Table", by William Downs. This summer job gives them theatre experience and business experience while raising money to further their educations in the fall. Aug 9- TD Bank Financial Group Easter Seals River Run being held at The Swan on the Rideau. Over 30 Powerboats participating in an on water scavenger hunt. Easter Seals kids are treated to a day of crafts, activities and a cruise on the Rideau River. Following the scavenger hunt the boats head back to the Swan on the Rideau in a colourful Flotilla. Participants return to the Swan and join families for a BBQ, a large silent auction and live music!

Aug 9-Volunteers are needed to help with the Drummond North Elmsley/Tay Valley Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, August. 9th. Volunteers would help directed traffic, collected data from drivers and helped unload vehicles. The company organizing the day will provide white coveralls and protective eyewear and train volunteers. Contact Linda or Paul at the DNE office 267-6500 to let them know you would like to help. Volunteers need to be there at 8:30am to be trained and can sign up for the full 5 hours, or just half the time.

Aug 23-The Montague Volunteer Fire Department is 4th annual "Montague Rural Ramble". It begins at noon, rain or shine, at the Montague Fire Hall on Roger Stevens Drive and supports of Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Sept 6-The Rideau Canal Museum and the Rideau Roundtable are partnering up to offer interpretive heritage canoe rides in 34-foot replica voyageur canoes to tour the heart of the canal. Qualified and costumed voyageur canoe instructors will tell the story of the canal's construction from 1826-1832 and describe the region's ecology while visitors experience a passage through a Rideau Canal lock. The tour will take place from 10a.m. to 2p.m., at a cost of $35/ person. Pre-register by calling the Rideau Canal Museum at 613-284-0505. Buskers will be entertaining.The headliner this year is pianist Michael Kaeshammer begin at 10 pm. at the Town Hall Auditorium.The monies raised are for the Awards program to assist students and local artists to pursue their dreams and to enable them to further their education in the arts. Passports will be sold for all venues including the 10 pm concert at $25 and also a passport to all venues except the 10pm concert can be purchased for $15.
